The ledger is the spec, not a side effect of the product. Every event that touches a FiduciaWay platform — a record created, an approval granted, an integration synced, a configuration changed — is append-only by construction, hash-chained, signed, and replayable from genesis to today. Two systems that disagree cannot stay disagreeing: a tampered row breaks the chain and is detected within the hour. When an auditor asks "what happened to this record three months ago", our answer comes from the ledger itself — not from someone's memory, and not from a report someone rebuilt last night.
We refuse the superstition that a database is a ledger. A database can UPDATE; a ledger can only APPEND, and the difference is whether an auditor can trust what they see. Our ledger is replicated geographically, verifiable end-to-end, and the analytics layer reads events from it — never taps the write buffer directly. PII stays encrypted in the ledger, access-listed and audited; downstream systems hold only derived, minimised projections. The ledger is the past we engineered to be readable into the future, on demand, by anyone with the authority to ask.
